Every year, Lung Ha's Theatre Company welcomes a student into the office for work experience and to give them with the opportunity to see how a Theatre Company works on a daily basis.
This year we were visited by Alasdair Thanisch from George Heriots School in Edinburgh and here is his blog about the time he spent with us:
On the recommendation of a friend of mine I volunteered to do a couple of days work experience with Lung Ha’s. My first day was spent in the office where I discovered that Michael Fraser was, thank heaven, something of a coffee aficionado. I did however, between coffee breaks, learn something about Lung Ha’s and theatre management in general.
On my second day I went to one of the company’s rehearsals. It was very interesting, and rather wonderful as well, to see how much the company members appreciated it, and how much effort and enthusiasm they were willing to contribute, despite some having some serious personal challenges to overcome. The morning afterwards I accompanied Clark to Prospect Bank School. As with the previous night’s rehearsal, it was gratifying to see a very positive response from most of the children.
My time with Lung Ha’s was interesting, enjoyable and demonstrated the importance of such an organisation. Thanks to Clark, Michael and Jenna for putting up with me, and for the coffee ; ).
Thanks Alasdair and good luck with everything.
